While you are horse sitting, you’ll be covered for essential tasks such as feeding, cleaning, mucking out, and turning out the horses under your care.
Coverage across a range of potential risks
You’ll be protected against claims from clients and members of the public for any incidents resulting in injury or damage. If the horses in your care are the source of injuries or accidents, whether or not you are at fault, you’re also covered.
Other typical risks horse sitters may face are also included, such as the loss of costly equipment or the loss of a horse you are looking after.
Depending on how you operate your horse sitting business, we can also provide optional coverage to suit you. For example, if you have staff we can cover you for claims arising from workers due to illnesses or injuries caused by the job.
It's important to note that this insurance does not cover incidents involving riding or exercising of the horses.

Our Standard Cover Includes
- Public Liability Up to $10,000,000 included
- Accidents & Injuries to Animals $20,000 per incident ($60,000 in the annual aggregate)
- Loss of Keys Up to $4,000 included

- Show Cover Attend events and even hold shows with up to 150 people included
- Loss of Animal Cover in the event that any pet you are looking after is lost or stolen

What activities are excluded by horse sitter insurance?
While essential tasks such as feeding, watering, and mucking out are covered, we do not cover any activity involved with exercising horses or ponies in your care.
Does this cover horses that I care for on my own property?
No, our horse sitter coverage only covers equines you care for on their own premises.
Do you provide coverage for livery yards?
No, we don’t provide this level of coverage.
